About
Hi,
My family has been adopting the raw food diet for about a year and a half now. How much raw we eat varies, depending on what season of the year it is and what is going on socially at the time.
When eat home, we try to eat at least part of each meal raw. Plus, we juice in between meals (I juice three times per day.)
We are not “fanatics” about it – if we go out to eat, we eat what we want and do not feel guilty about it. I think it is very important not to get too strict with yourself, as it can put a heavy burden on you, and that’s not what this is meant to do.
Eating a raw food diet should bring “lightness” to your life, so just do what you can. I believe that eating as much raw food and juicing a couple times per day is a huge step and can make a big difference. So be patient with yourself. Start with adding a salad or other raw dish to each meal and a glass of carrot juice each day. Continue to add in more and more raw as you are able.
The resources we have recommended on this website are ones that we personally use (with the exception of the dehydrator-we don’t have one yet.) We started out with Jay Kordich’s book, “Live Foods, Live Bodies.” That was our source for raw food information for the first year. Then we decided to “branch out.” My husband found out about Dr. Joel Fuhrman and his books and ordered them. There is some great information and recipes in his books. We like the fact that the information is coming from a medical doctor.
I recently found Kristen Suzanne’s books on the internet and ordered the Salads and Dressings book. There are some great recipes in it and I was especially pleased with the dressings because I have had a hard time finding recipes for dressings that taste good and are good for you.
We have had our Champion Juicer for about ten years now and love it! It gets used about six or seven times each day and has held up wonderfully.
I hope you’ll enjoy these resources as much as we have!
